Object Information Imaging Details |

The Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula in Cygnus. Gas and dust, which are being pushed by the strong solar wind of WR 136 (a massive Wolf-Rayet Star) form a bubble which is illuminated by the star. The Crescent Nebula is object #27 on the Caldwell list. It's faint, but can be seen through a modest sized telescope from a dark sky location. It's very easy to locate (see map above right). The image was taken from my front yard through using a Baader 7nm hydrogen alpha filter. Not even Sergio's bright yellow house is a match for narrow band imaging. Clicking on the image above will bring up a larger image. Or click here to see my first attempt to create a Hubble Pallet image using Ha, SII and OIII filters. |
